The Brighton Festival team develops, produces and delivers the Festival in May, and we need your help! You’ll be available a couple of weeks before and during Brighton Festival 2018, which runs from Sat 5–Sun 27 May.
We’re looking for reliable, confident and enthusiastic arts lovers who will support the staging of Festival events and represent the Festival across Brighton. This is an ideal opportunity for developing skills and knowledge within a busy arts organisation.
Our Artistic Planning volunteers will be required on various dates throughout May to help with the organisation and running of events. You will directly assist the Producers and Assistant Producers to ensure that the event runs efficiently. There are various AP assistant roles for different art forms.
Our meet and greet volunteers will be responsible for providing a friendly and helpful welcome to the Festival. You will be representing the festival, meeting artists and companies and taking them to venue or to their accommodation.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the weekend activities as part of Your Place, taking place on 19–20 May in Hangleton and 25–26 May in Whitehawk. The weekends celebrate the partnership between the Festival and Brighton People’s Theatre, and put the arts in the heart of local communities. You will help with front of house, preparing the venues including some basic technical set up. There will also be an element of artist liaison support.
Our festival greeters will welcome members of the public, answer questions, provide general information and assist with directions. As the face of the Festival, you will have a key role in the Visitor Services department, ensuring that audiences are greeted by a friendly face and supported during their visit. You will also be essential in creating an exciting atmosphere at the venue. You will be required to shadow members of the Visitor Services team throughout April, leading up to volunteering at various event during the Festival in May.
Marketing & Press
Our Marketing & Promo Team are essential in creating an exciting, buzzy festival atmosphere on the ground and online. You’ll be talking to the public about our many events, handing out flyers & information, branding our many festival sites and generally being an ambassador for the festival at our various venues & information points. including our Information Booths at Brighton Station and on New Road.
Our production team are looking for volunteers to assist with various production and technical tasks across the preparation and during the Festival itself from end of April to 28 May, including the Without Walls weekend on Sat 26 & Sun 27 May where you will be assisting companies during their time in Brighton and helping to ensure the weekend runs smoothly. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to gain a full hands-on experience with event production.
The Children’s Parade kick-starts the Festival. We are looking for a team of enthusiastic volunteers to help us raise money to continue the great work of Samesky and Brighton Festival by carrying collecting buckets along the festival route.
