Yuval Avital & Ensemble Meitar

Fuga Perpetua

Co-commissioned by Brighton Festival

‘With Yuval Avital, it is better to see and hear than to describe… A must-see.’ Rolling Stone

The more we read and hear about refugees, the less it seems that we understand their experiences. Fuga Perpetua – meaning ‘always running’ – reflects on the situation of refugees compelled always to move on.

In this potent and thought provoking new work, Yuval Avital, a unique voice in the contemporary and experimental scene, creates an immersive environment using a combination of music, sound recordings, visual projections and movement. With contemporary music group Ensemble Meitar, it crosses the border between ‘us’ and ‘them’ and allows us to relate to refugees through the senses, intuition and imagination.

'a work of great artistic value and equally of human and moral meaning, a work that…restores dignity to refugees' La Repubblica
