Brighton Festival 2019Public booking opens: Fri 24 Feb, 9am

Our Place

It's a community takeover - after two incredibly successful festivals, Your Place is becoming Our Place.

For the third year running we've been working in partnership with Brighton People’s Theatre, Due East, Hangleton and Knoll Project and the community steering committees to enable local residents to make their vision come to life. This year the communities have taken control of the event, bringing more free family-friendly theatre, dance, music, games, activities and workshops to Hangleton and East Brighton.

‘Your Place has opened a door that we do not want to close again.’ Valerie Foucher, Hangleton Community Centre Manager

Each of our Brighton Festival Guest Directors gets involved with the project, helping put together the programme of festival artists, and performing themselves.

‘Very moving and touching, brilliant more and more please!’ Audience member

Pop up performances will take place across Hangleton and Knoll and East Brighton throughout Brighton Festival taking place from 4–26 May 2019, culminating in a community wide celebration of arts and culture in each area.

What happens at Our Place?

In 2017 and 2018 we programmed two weekends of extraordinary performances and workshops, including a collaboration with Kate Tempest (Brighton Festival Guest Director 2017.) The project has surpassed all expectations, reaching over 2,000 members of the Hangleton and East Brighton communities. Months later, people involved were still elated from the experience.
