‘A visceral, boundary-trashing trip that transcends language, place and time’ The Herald
A passion for exploration comes naturally to this visionary duo formed of Cretan lute player George Xylouris and Australian post-punk drummer Jim White (Dirty Three). Combining free-jazz, avant-rock and ages-old Greek folk traditions, their 2014 debut album Goats topped the Billboard World Music chart. Two years later, they showed how far their horizons could reach on 2016’s expansive Black Peak.
Now they’re back with their third album Mother, more elegant and thoughtful than its predecessors yet still retaining a palpable spirit of adventure. As The Guardian wrote, Xylouris White is ‘one of the most intriguing fusion duos you’ll come across.’
Blumberg weds an improvisational, free-music ethos to raw emotional songwriting. Together with Steiger and Wheatley, he has crafted new, singular music featuring Jim White's exquisite touch on drums.
