Come and join the Brighton Festival Team! Experience unique, world class performance, get involved in the cultural life of the city, learn new skills, meet new people and have fun!

Every year we recruit volunteers from our local communities to support the delivery of the festival. Volunteers play a vital role in welcoming artists and audiences to our city and shaping the Festival experience for everyone.

There are some amazing opportunities this year, from leading audiences through woods to a magical musical experience in the trees, to activating giant sculptures in Shoreham Port. Support intriguing night-time cycling adventures or help our Guest Director Lemn Sissay launch his brand new international online project.

To ensure the safest experience for all, we are inviting you to volunteer for specific shows. This will help us tailor your training to the specific health and safety needs of the shows you are working on. You can apply for more than one show, however we would like to offer as many people as possible the opportunity to participate in this year’s festival and opportunities are limited. All volunteers will receive full Health and Safety Training, as well as Covid safety training specific to the shows you are working on.

A full list of volunteer roles is attached. Please read the description of each role carefully before applying to confirm that you are available on the required dates and understand the role you are applying for. The majority of volunteer roles are OUTDOOR this year and will take place in ALL WEATHERS.

Alongside our own volunteering team, we are seeking volunteers to work with some of our fantastic partners delivering shows across the city. Details of how to apply for these roles are listed in the application form.

We aim to engage an ethnically diverse team of volunteers that represent our local communities, and welcome applications from people who are disabled. Reasonable adjustments will be made wherever possible. Volunteer applicants must be aged 18+ on 29 April 2021.

PLEASE NOTE: If you have already completed the online application form, but are interested in applying for any of the new roles advertised, please contact Catherine Gill (Volunteer Coordinator) at

We can’t wait to welcome you to the Festival Team!
