Brighton’s famous palace pier is beautifully depicted in this Festival brochure cover. By 1972 Brighton Festival had been running for six years and firmly established itself as one the major events in the city with a purpose of bringing outstanding art and artists to Brighton with a wide programme of events. Notable artists included performances from a young Nigel Kennedy, a rare visit from Shirley Bassey, the Royal Swedish Opera and Royal Swedish Ballet, The Drottningholm Theatre and The Young Vic Company of the National Theatre.

The mighty elephant carries Brighton's most celebrated building on its back. Brighton Dome forms part of the Royal Pavilion Estate and was originally built as Prince Regent's riding house and stables. These buildings stood before the exotic Palace, and it's thanks to William Porden's oriental inspired design that Prince Regent decided to commission John Nash to remodel his home in an even grander style.

This iconic image designed by leading Australian graphic and pop artist Martin Sharp has a sister design for the Adelaide Festival in 1982.  Sharp was brilliant innovator in illustration whose cartoons, collages and designs tested the imposed boundaries of image-making and fine art. The original intricate paper cutting of this artwork hangs in Brighton Dome's offices.

Exclusive limited edition print ‘Damascus fabric around the Great Umayyad Mosque’ by Syrian architect Marwa al-Sabouni. This illustration is taken from her new book 'Building for Hope', which seeks to understand how cities and buildings—scarred by conflict, blight, and pandemic—can be healed through design and urban mindfulness.

King & McGaw and Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival have collaborated with Marwa al- Sabouni ( guest co-director of the festival) to create this limited edition print to celebrate Brighton Festival 2022. Proceeds directly support the charity and their mission to make art accessible to all.
