Even until now that description of Glyndebourne, as an increasingly famous centre for opera, has indeed held true.

Glyndebourne can be reached from Brighton in just over an hour with train services run by Southern and a bus connection. 

If you’re planning to use public transport then it’s advisable to arrive into Lewes around two hours before the performance starts.

Coaches arrive at Pool Valley Coach Station, from Brighton it is just over an hours journey to Glyndebourne.
