Classically trained cellist Lucinda Chua explores R&B and chamber pop, while t l k shares her sophomore EP weaving together raw vocals with affected piano, strings and electronic textures

London born artist Lucinda Chua creates elemental soundscapes that hold delicate songs. A seasoned Cellist, she toured in Stars of the Lid and FKA Twigs live band before releasing two EP's, Antidotes 1 & 2 as a singer-producer-songwriter.

Chua's debut solo album YIAN, set for release this March on 4AD, is a meditation on identity, love, grief and personal growth. A deeply introspective and fully realised vessel of creative expression, YIAN emerges as a sensual landscape of emotional texture; blending strings, soft keys and intimate vocals.

Having performed in unorthodox venues, from the depths of the planetarium to a multi-story carpark at sunset, her cinematic performances bring the music to life, where she approaches the room and everyone in it as her instrument.

Bristol-based producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist t l k stretches the thin fabric of selfhood, with her characteristically ethereal sound coined 'truly transportive' by BBC6 Music. For Brighton Festival, t l k shares her sophomore EP Primed For Loss, releasing on Ishmael Ensemble’s label, Severn Songs. Recorded in part on residency at Snape Maltings, this immersive piece weaves together raw vocals with affected piano, strings and electronic textures, offering an expansive soundscape within which to honour the non-linear, ever-evolving nature of grief.

The Steinway concert piano chosen and hired by Brighton Festival for this performance is supplied and maintained by Steinway & Sons, London
