An Intimate Evening with Lucinda Williams

15 Feb 2013

She has won three Grammy Awards. Time magazine called her ‘America’s best songwriter’. No wonder each appearance by Lucinda Williams is eagerly awaited, and acclaimed. In a voice that has been likened to ‘bourbon poured over broken glass’, she weaves rock, country, folk and blues into a distinctive sound that has made her the focus of cultish devotion over four decades

Lucinda Williams’s latest album Blessed brings together a dozen songs whose irresistible narrative momentum turns them into a collection of masterfully crafted short stories. And it is these stories – observing life’s dark clouds as well as revealing their silver lining – that she tells in her long-awaited return to the UK.
