An intimate programme of lieder masterworks performed by a singer who inherited the genre from one of the finest interpreters of our age: the German baritone Benjamin Appl was the last private pupil of the great Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau. He is accompanied by James Baillieu, who is fast establishing himself as a Festival favourite.
