Box Clever

9 Feb 2017

Due to unforeseen circumstances, nabakov is unable to present Box Clever at this year’s Brighton Festival and this event is now cancelled.

All ticket holders will be automatically refunded. If you have any queries, contact [javascript protected email address]. We apologise for the disappointment and hope you will still find other events to enjoy in the year’s Brighton Festival programme.

I know what you’re thinking, single mother, abusive exes, hiding out in a refuge, she’s definitely pregnant, how predictable. But I ain’t pregnant. It’s the house it’s making me sick.

Moving, truthful and darkly comic, Box Clever is the new play by Monsay Whitney, with music performed by Avi Simmons, about one woman’s experience of a women’s refuge.

Explored through Marnie’s relationship with love songs, Box Clever explore the lengths to which she will go to escape negative relationship patterns, and do the best for herself and her daughter.

nabokov is one of the UK’s most exciting theatre companies dedicated to telling contemporary and political stories using a cross-artform approach. Whitney is the company’s Associate Playwright: her startling debut Hand to Mouth, an honest and provocative tale of family life, was selected by Simon Stephens as part of his Playwrights Presents season for Theatre 503.
