Charge of the Light Brigade

1 Jan 2012

The final instalment in this celebration of Redgrave’s early film career. This satirical account of wartime Victorian England elicits brilliant performances from John Gielgud and Vanessa Redgrave in a tale of the contrasts between aristocracy and the lower classes. Redgrave appeared with her mother, Rachel Kempson, brother Corin and daughters Natasha and Joely in her ex-husband Tony Richardson’s film.

This screening forms part of Vanessa Redgrave on Screen - The 1960s set the tone for the whole of Vanessa Redgrave’s screen career with a series of key roles in seminal films that reflected and expressed an era of social and cultural transformation. To complement the BAFTA: A life in pictures event, Brighton Festival and Cinecity present a selection of her early movie milestones.

In association with Cinecity and Duke of York’s Picturehouse
