Brighton Festival 2017Public booking opens: Fri 24 Feb, 9am

Singers sought to form brand new choir for Brighton Festival’s unique audience sleepover project.

The Voice Project are inviting singers (aged over 16) to join a unique new choral project, The Arms of Sleep, as part of Brighton Festival 2018

Set to be one of the highlights of the Festival programme, The Arms of Sleep is an unforgettable overnight sleepover experience created by directors Sian Croose and Jonathan Baker in which audiences encounter a unique dream-like and immersive night of music and stories, sound and images.

Guests will each be given a comfortable bed and spend the night surrounded by sound and shadows, drifting between sleep and wakefulness. The ethereally beautiful music has been written by Brighton-based composer Orlando Gough, Jonathan Baker and Helen Chadwick.

A co-production between The Norfolk & Norwich Festival, Brighton Festival and the Voice Project, The Arms of Sleep and was a huge critical success when it premiered in May 2017 in Norwich.

Voice Project Co-Director Sian Croose said: ‘We’d like to welcome absolutely anyone over 16 with a desire to sing to join the choir. There are no auditions and all rehearsals are conducted in such a way that no previous experience of singing or music is required.’

Choir members will need to be available for up to three performances from Fri 11 May to Tue 15 May (approximately 7pm - 11pm, and returning at 6am - 8am the following morning) and rehearsal dates which are listed below.

A members’ fee of £20 will be required to join the choir (bursaries are available), but there is a free no-obligation taster session for anyone who thinks they may be interested in joining the choir at The Basement, 24 Kensington Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 4AJ on Wednesday 17th January 2018 7.30pm to 9.30pm.
