Building On What We Have

Already at the beginning of this century, according to a 2007 UN survey, we became 50% urban as a global population. This is only going to grow – by 2050 we are going to be up to 70% urban. 

This event chaired by Leo Hollis, author of Why Cities are Good For You, considers how architects and planners address the problems of building in an existing urban environment. Also on the panel is the acclaimed architect Eric Parry who has been involved in a number of projects involving historic buildings and Owen Hatherley whose latest book is called A New Kind of Bleak: Journeys Through Urban Britain.
