Brett Anderson: Coal Black Mornings

Mon 5 Feb 2018

As lead singer of Suede, Brett Anderson helped to shape British culture in the 1990s. But his upbringing in 1970s Haywards Heath couldn’t have been further from rock star glamour. In his memoir Coal Black Mornings, he describes his poverty-stricken childhood and his relationship with his artistic mother and his eccentric taxi-driver father. The book charts the circumstances that gave rise of one of Britain’s most influential bands.
