The War of the Worlds

Mon 3 Feb 2020

When Orson Welles adapted H.G. Wells’ novel The War of the Worlds in 1938, he wanted to create a thrilling radio drama that would ‘feel’ real. In fact, it felt so real that it caused public hysteria as listeners believed that Martians had landed in New Jersey, and the water tower was an alien war machine.

Fast forward to 2019, and the internet has replaced the radio as the medium through which we make sense of the world. And we remain just as trusting.

Inspired by Wells’ novel and the famous radio play, this legendary science fiction thriller is playfully reimagined for our era of Fake News and ‘alternative facts’.
