Dennis Rollins' Velocity Trio

Three is the magic number as the ‘most exciting British trombonist for decades’ ( Jazz Wise) cuts loose from his trademark ‘BadBone’ funk sound with a unique new trio combination. Rollins has played at the forefront of UK jazz for 25 years, performing with such stars as Maceo Parker, Courtney Pine and The Brand New Heavies. His latest project is the Velocity Trio, featuring Hammond organ virtuoso Ross Stanley and fiery drummer Pedro Segundo.
Their recently released debut The 11th Gate marks the first British signing to visionary US label Motéma. Its 11 tracks – partly inspired by last year’s symbolic 11-11-11 phenomenon – are a brilliant marriage of refined contemporary jazz arrangements and simmering funk grooves.
