Song Conversation

Mon 15 Feb 2016

Three top musicians join together to tell their lives through scores and ask ‘what is a song?’

Join Brighton Festival Guest Director Laurie Anderson in what she calls her ‘most perfect collaboration’ with fellow musician-composers, pianist Nik Bärtsch and guitarist Eivind Aarset, for this second installation of Song Conversation, an alluring exchange of songs and traditions.

Transgressive icon Laurie Anderson proved with worldwide hit ‘O Superman’ that pop and advanced art performance need not be mutually exclusive. Zurich-based Nik Bärtsch is a pianist, composer and producer who works both as a solo artist and a member of groups Mobile and internationally highly successful project Ronin. Eivind Aarset is a guitarist of diverse orientations, who worked with both Ray Charles and Nils Petter Molvær.

This musical adventure is both a crossroads and finish line for three unique artist’s journeys. Performed only once before at Ludwigsburg Festival in Germany, join us for this exclusive UK premiere and Guest Director's highlight of the 2016 Brighton Festival.
