This is the Kit & Stargaze

Wed 7 Feb 2018

In this special one-off event, one of the most thrilling voices in contemporary folk - Kate Stables of This is the Kit, joins forces with multi-talented orchestral collective Stargaze - one of today’s most adventurous ensembles.

Retaining the intimacy of its well-loved predecessor 2015’s Bashed Out, This is the Kit and Stargaze will perform a specially reimagined version of Kate’s latest 2017 album Moonshine Freeze, the paris-based songwriter’s loosest, wildest music to date.

Stargaze is a modern classical orchestral collective and network of European musicians, co-founded by Berlin-based conductor André de Ridder. They have worked with artists from Nils Frahm to Matthew Herbert and curated and performed the David Bowie Tribute concert at BBC Proms 2016.

Emma Gatrill

Emma Gatrill is a multi-instrumentalist based in Brighton, UK. Her debut, 2012’s Chapter I, was a poignant collection of songs based around her then-latest acquisition – the harp. Subtly accompanied by various members of Brighton’s Willkommen Collective, her intricate harp playing coupled with a unique vocal fragility drew comparisons to Björk and Joni Mitchell as well as her friends and co-conspirators Rachael Dadd and Rozi Plain.
