Kronos Quartet with Sam Green and Trio da Kali

Mon 12 Feb 2018

A double dose of Kronos Quartet; looking to their past with a live cinema performance and to the present in their latest collaboration with Trio da Kali.

In A Thousand Thoughts, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Sam Green questions how music can change the world – combining archival footage and filmed interviews with Philip Glass, Terry Riley and more, with live narration and music from the quartet. Sam Green returns to the Festival following the much-loved film and performance The Measure of All Things that he brought to the Festival in 2015 with acclaimed chamber group yMusic.

The quartet will then be joined by Mali’s young Griot supergroup Trio da Kali, following their exquisite collaboration on album Ladilikan in 2017. A reminder of Kronos Quartet’s spirit of continuous exploration; it’s another reason to be cheerful that they have been making music for 40 years.
