Celebrate the sensuality and power of jazz

Originally recorded in 1963 by an eleven-piece band, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady weaves a versatile and captivating musical tapestry, blending elements of jazz, folk-dance and classical music, alongside Spanish and African influences. Dynamic and fiery, the album is widely regarded as one of the greatest jazz records of all time. Bringing it to life are Nu Civilisation Orchestra, a cutting-edge musical ensemble who have performed multiple iconic albums including Duke Ellington’s A Tone Parallel to Harlem, Joni Mitchell’s Hejira and Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On.

Dance the night away

Alongside its wide variety of musical influences, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady is also inspired by dance and is partly written as a jazz ballet. Taking the stage alongside the band are acclaimed performance company Clod Ensemble, bringing the dance elements of the record to life through exuberant and joyful movement.
