South African-born violinist and Royal Over-Seas League prize-winner, Jordan Brooks performs blues-influenced sonatas by Ravel and Prokofiev, framing two charming yet challenging salon pieces by the Belgian virtuoso Eugène Ysaÿe.

Jordan Brooks
Jordan Brooks is currently a third year undergraduate student at the Royal College of Music under a full scholarship from the ABRSM. Playing on a Storioni violin, he studies under the tuition of violin pedagogue, Radu Blidar.

Jordan started violin lessons at the age of seven under the tuition of Anne Marie Swanepoel at the Beau Soleil Music Centre in South Africa. Since the age of 11, Jordan has performed as a soloist with several of the local orchestras in Cape Town including the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been a prize winner at all of the national competitions he took part in, including first prize winner of the National Youth Music Competition in 2019. Since then he started performing regular recitals around many of Cape Town’s renowned concert venues; including Casa Labia, Erin Hall, the Baxter, The Welgement, as well as several wine farms around Stellenbosch and Wellington.

Most recently, he won the first prize at the Royal Over-Seas League Strings Competition and received first prize for the Overseas round of the competition in February and March respectively. As winner of these prizes, he performed at the Grand Finale on 19 June, where he made his Wigmore Hall Debut. Jordan is now a member of the Making Music Philip and Dorothy Green Scheme which allows him more opportunities to perform recitals around the UK.

 

Dominic Degavino
Pianist Dominic Degavino studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester and at the Guildhall School, London with Helen Krizos, Charles Owen and Noriko Ogawa. He has performed at venues such as the Wigmore Hall and Southbank Centre, London as a Park Lane Group artist, and at the Bridgewater Hall, Manchester. Concerto appearances include performances with the Manchester Camerata and RNCM Symphony Orchestra. 

Dominic has achieved considerable competition success, including winning the RNCM Gold Medal Competition, and prizes at the Concours International de Piano d'Epinal, J.N. Hummel International Piano Competition, and the Royal Over-Seas League Competition. He also performed across the UK as a member of the Tillett Trust DEBUT and Countess of Munster Musical Trust recital schemes. 

Alongside work as a soloist, he is a passionate chamber musician, accompanist, and jazz player, with ensembles including the Mithras Trio (former BBC New Generation Artists) and with flautist Meera Maharaj.
