Ned Archibong (QM Records) curates a special edition of MOVES at Brighton Festival, an all-day celebration of music, culture and discovering new sounds.

This is the 7th edition of QM Records' gathering, with a line up celebrating strong female voices with amazing acts from Brighton, Bradford, London and beyond.

IYAMAH

Growing up on the sounds of African drumming and reggae music in Brighton, IYAMAH has developed a distinct soulful R&B sound which she describes as Rootsy Soul, remaining connected to her musical beginnings, favourite genres, and lyrical focus on identity, self-worth and female empowerment

Kymara

Born in the Netherlands and now based in the UK, Kymara blends the storytelling of Nina Simone, the fiery spirit of Janis Joplin, and the deep grooves of D’Angelo. Her raw, soulful voice carries deep emotion with every note, whether singing a heart-wrenching melody or delivering a smooth, groove-driven tune, her voice is a force that immediately draws listeners in

Harleighblu

Combining a classic yet truly distinctive soul voice with a love of bass and eclectic future beats, likened to Erykah Badu and AlunaGeorge, each new release from Harleighblu is a revelation

Tara Lily

South London, British-Bengali musician Tara Lily released her debut album, Speak In The Dark in 2024, a record about 'speaking your truth – things that go unsaid—secrets and desires'. Transgressing jazz, electronica, trip-hop, and alternative R&B with Indian soundscape Speak In The Dark is an artistic representation of Tara’s emotional highs and lows with ADHD.

Moon Idle

An alternative band formed in Brighton, combining elements of many genres including Trip-Hop, Latin Jazz, and Dream-Pop. Their debut EP Kindly is a dynamic five track composition that is melancholic but hopeful

Sinead Campbell

The Jamaican-Irish, northern powerhouse soul singer delivers uplifting catchy grooves with emotion-infused vocals and vintage touch. Her smooth vocals weave tales of love and introspection.

Ellie Pepper

Originating from the vibrant streets of North London and now rooted in Brighton, Ellie Pepper infuses timeless jazz melodies reminiscent of Sarah Vaughan with the seductive allure of Sade and the whimsical harmonies of Kali Uchis, Pepper's voice transports listeners to a realm where old-school charm meets contemporary sex appeal
