Bach/Busoni Ich ruf zu dir, Herr Jesu Christ

Bach/Busoni Chaconne in D minor

Ravel Valses Nobles et Sentimentales

Brahms Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel

Winner of both First and Audience Prizes at the 2024 Birmingham International Piano Competition, and hailed by the Chicago Tribune for her “pinpoint clarity and convincing bravura”, Hong Kong-born, London-based Sherri Lun features three great composer-pianists of the modern era – one Italian, one French and one German – reworking or reacting to the music of earlier times. Busoni transposes Baroque masterworks by Bach from violin and organ to piano keyboard; Ravel creates a suite of eight contrasted waltzes in tribute to Schubert; and Brahms erects a monumental set of variations, plus final fugue, on the foundation of a simple air from a Handel harpsichord suite.
