What We Talk About When We Talk About Magic
What do we mean when we say that something magical happened in our lives? Are magicians really doing magic, or is it something else?
Join critically acclaimed sleight-of hand artist Vincent Gambini for an unmissable chance to peek behind the wizard's curtain. You are invited to discover how a magician goes about developing a new theatre show, and to offer your own take on magic and illusion.
Premiering at the Brighton festival, Gambini will be performing new material from his current project on theatre and magic. Expect astonishing card tricks, baffling poetic incantations, and a story about a talking pigeon.
The event will feature a special Q&A hosted by award-winning performance maker Ocean Hester Stefan Chillingworth: together with the audience, we will delve deeper and try and answer the question: what do we talk about when we talk about magic?
Vincent Gambini is a pseudonym of Augusto Corrieri, Associate Professor in Theatre at the University of Sussex.
